about

This track is the result of a real family collaboration. The narration is performed by my Brother In Law John Wright and the extract 'Weedalls Dream' taken from my brother Jonnie's second book which he is in the process of writing. His excellent first book 'Willy Smith' Dreamer by Jonnie Lovell is a must read for all kids! Our son who is 13 did backing vocals with my wife and myself and our great friend and collaborator Nanette Mc Clelland also provided backing vocals.

lyrics

The water looked black like treacle and motionless, still, not a ripple. Even Willy and Weedall’s tiny raft barely left a wake behind it. The mist was dense and only meters away. It was hard to tell that they were moving at all. Their wooden paddles made little sound as the boys pushed them into the gloop and drew them slowly backwards.
They were picking up speed now, they no longer needed to paddle and the wooden vessel seemed to be being drawn along by some invisible force. Faster and faster and faster. They could see it now, just in front of them but only for a second before they were drawn into it. A gigantic whirlpool! Willy and Weedall’s faces were expressionless, their eyes only just betraying their excitement and terror. Down they went, deeper and deeper into the vortex. This was Weedall’s dream, they knew it couldn't hurt them, they hoped it couldn't hurt them.
Then they saw it! The plug hole! Were they being dragged towards it? Or was it coming up to meet them, to swallow them.
Then they were there!
Then they were gone!
Nobody would know they had ever been there!
Nobody knew what would happen next………if anything, as this was the end of Weedall’s dream.
